Japanese smart phone maker, Sony confirmed that several Xperia devices of Z series would get first Android 4.4 KitKat OS after Android 4.3 Jelly Bean push releases. Below are list of phones which would initially get the update.
Xperia Z1
Xperia Z Ultra
Xperia Z
Xperia ZL
Xperia Tablet Z
Timing and dates are not confirmed by Sony and is sure that is will depend on market and carrier. As per experts SIM free handset will first receive the update.
It was also heard that Phones that do not receive KitKat may still receive software Jelly Bean 4.3 update.
Sony announced devices Xperia ZR and Xperia SP weren't included to the confirmed list from Sony, and it is not known whether the company would put them on the next batch of recipients. The Xperia Z line of devices is set to receive the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean including Xperia SP from November to December 2013.
Early rumours were heard that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean coming to Xperia Z1 around November or December 2013 alongside with other members of the Xperia Z family.
Recently HTC has announced the maximum HTC one will receive update of 4.4 KitKat in 90 days, which Sony may actually do as well in order to match current flagship Android devices of their competitors, and to showcase their own modification of Android 4.4.
