Kim Dotcom's Mega cloud storage service launches app for iPhone

Kim Dotcom’s Mega cloud service, Mega has launched an app for iPhone users for managing files This app is available on Goolge Play Store for last 4 months and has gained lots of positive reviews. For iPhone, users can download it for free and app supports devices running on iOS 6.0 and above.

This app helps users to browse and manage their Mega cloud storage account and perform fast file transfers. It also lets users preview and stream supported document and file formats, export and send file and folder links, and also import file links into the users' Mega account. Developers are promising that automatic photo sync and iPad support feature will be added soon

Mega app for iPhone allows users to upgrade their storage space and bandwidth quota by switching to "Mega Pro" with options of monthly and yearly subscriptions.

Mega Pro is available on a monthly subscription for $10.99 and annual of $119.99. Pro subscription gives 500GB of storage space and 1TB of bandwidth per month. It gets renewed automatically for successive periods for same duration. For example if user has subscribed for a monthly subscription, it will get renewed automatically for next month as soon as it ends for first months.User can switch off automatic renewal of their Mega Pro subscription, 24 hours before their next subscription payment is due via their iTunes account settings page.

Kim Dotcom’s Mega cloud service is having competition with services like Skydrive, Google Drive, Dropbox and Box. It offers 50GB of free cloud storage space and claims that it's more secure.

Do you know who is Kim Dotcom ?

Kim Dotcom  was born on 21 January 1974 in Kiel, Germany. He is also known as Kim Schmitz or Kim Tim Jim Vestor. He changed his surname to Dotcom in 2005. He is a German-Finnish Internet businessman, entrepreneur and hacker, currently residing in New Zealand. He is the founder of Megaupload, Mega and its associated websites.

Kim is know as one of the world's "largest tech entrepreneurs" as his height is around 2 metres (6 ft 7 in) and weighs over 130 kg. In 2001, his main source of income was a company called Kimvestor, which he valued at 200 million euros. He is known for spending his money on expensive cars and boats. He owns at least 18 luxury cars – including a 1959 pink Cadillac

He rose to fame in Germany in the 1990s as an alleged hacker and internet entrepreneur. He was convicted of several crimes, and received a suspended prison sentence in 1994 for computer fraud and data espionage, and another suspended prison sentence in 2003 for insider trading and embezzlement. In January 2012, the New Zealand Police placed him in custody in response to US charges of criminal copyright infringement in relation to his Megaupload website. Dotcom was accused of costing the entertainment industry $500 million through pirated content uploaded to his file-sharing site, which had 150 million registered users. Dotcom has vigorously denied the charges, and is fighting the attempt to extradite him to the United States. Despite legal action still pending over Megaupload, Dotcom launched a new project/website named "Mega" in January 2013, opened to the public exactly one year after Megaupload was shut down.
