Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 805 ultra HD processor



When most of the smartphone makers are adopting MidiaTex's new chipset MT6592 octa-core processor for the new handset, World's leading mobile chipmaker, Qualcomm has now announced the quad core Snapdragon 805 ultra HD processor coupled with Adreno 420 GPU for tablets and smartphones, with new features for Ultra HD video which will allow smartphones and tablets to play back 4K Ultra HD footage rather than just record it.

"Using a smartphone or tablet powered by Snapdragon 805 processor is like having an Ultra HD home theater in your pocket, with 4K video, imaging and graphics, all built for mobile," said Murthy Renduchintala, executive vice-president of Qualcomm Technologies. Company said Snapdragon 805 ultra HD processor will hit market by mid of 2014.

Key features of Snapdragon 805 ultra HD processor from Qualcomm

  • Snapdragon 805 will allow smartphones and tablets to play back 4K Ultra HD videos ad record them
  • Powered with Adreno 420 graphics processor, which helps in playing and recording 4K Ultra HD videos and is claimed to be 40 percent more powerful than the last generation.
  • Krait 450 quad-core CPU delivers speeds of 2.5 GHz per core and memory bandwidth of 25.6GB/s, which will boost the speed of running applications and surfing speed.
  • It will be the first chip to provide hardware support  for 4K HEVC (H.265) decoding.
  • This will have a new dedicated camera processor, which will increase and improve the camera speed and quality.with the use of the gyro sensor it will stabilize the captured photos.
